low top speed???

my 87 formula has an 83 350 out of a truck and stock transmission with minor upgrades and a stock rear end. I top out at 110 mph. is this normal?? seems like I should be able to achieve a higher top speed. any suggestions or input?? my rpms aren't red lining either when I'm at this speed by it sure is screaming. has a Holley 750 dp if that makes any difference.

Re: low top speed???

Being not computer controlled (or governed) it should go to atleast 130.
How's the acceleration, does it pull strong? How are you measuring your speed? Speedo might be off.
A 750 DP is too big for a stock type 350. How is it screaming if it aint red lining?

Re: low top speed???

Depends on how "minor" these upgrades you speak of are...

If they don't involve heads, then you're probably doing pretty much about what some old truck motor would be expected to do.

It's a TRUCK motor... designed for pulling stumps, hauling loads of gravel, etc. NOT setting land speed records.

A 750 carb is perfectly fine for a 350. It's SURE not the cause of the question at hand.
