SBC 400 Question about pan n rear main ???

I have an early 70"s sbc 400 and was wondering if anyone knows if it would be a one or two piece rear main (the seal that is) ?
Theres a really nice finned aluminuim pan i found for $65 Pecos but its for a one piece seal, has 18 bolts holes if that helps.

IIRC, a 400 will be a 2 pc. RMS with a driver side dipstick.

Yup; all 400s are 2-pc.

Last one was cast in 80. 1-pc started in 86.

Re: SBC 400 Question about pan n rear main ???

55-85 small blocks had 2 piece rear main seal.
86 and newer got one piece..

but they did switch things around with the oil pan sometime around 1980 or so when they moved the dipstick from the driver's side to the passenger side, probably because of the stupid new log style exhaust manifolds they were putting on everything..
