91 camaro wont start?
so while I was in the parking lot at autozone, whenever I tried to start my car up again, the fuel pump did not prime, and because of this, the engine turned over, but refused to start. This happened once previously about a week ago, but to fix it I just messed with the relay, and the car fired back up. This time on the other hand, I was at autozone like I said, and thinking that it might be a bad relay, I went ahead and bought a brand new one. I installed this new relay, and found that this wasn't the culprit. next, I checked the fuse for the fuel pump, and decided to go ahead and replace it even though it was not burnt out, just to make sure that it wasn't warn from age.once again, I did this to no avail. I was completely out of ideas as to what could be wrong, so I just walked over to the gas station and got a gallon of fuel. I poured a little bit of the fuel into the carburetor just to see if it would fire. To my surprise, the engine fired right up, and shockingly did not die like I thought it would after a few minutes. After looking, the injectors were pumping fuel into the carburetor and the car was running normally, but with a high idle. Does anyone has any idea what could possibly be wrong with my car, As I am completely out of ideas. From how I see it, the car would have died shortly after I fired it up if the fuel pump was burnt out. Seeing as I was able to drive home and it never cut out, the fuel pump has to still be working, right? My car is a 305 tbi camaro rs with 5 speed.

Sometimes they completely go out and sometimes they gradually do.
If you checked the fuse & relay, and they were both good then more than likely you need to replace it. When you do, replace the stock filter as well.
How many miles are on it, and have you ever replaced it in the past?

The car is new to me, so I havent replaced it. 174K miles. Im curious, should I hear the relay click atleast if the fuel pump isnt working, I dont hear the click or prime... (trying to eliminate everything before having to drop the tank, Id have to get it towed in order to do that so id like to avoid all that hassle if at all possible)

You may have an intermittent short in the wiring as well, I would check for corrosion at the terminals and for signs of a broken or grounding wire.

Re: 91 camaro wont start?
It is a fuel issue. The relay isnt clicking and the pump isnt priming. Fuses and relays are good.
