zz4 cam good for my set up?

I have a old zz1 crate engine rebuilt by me with afr 180cc milled to 58cc combustion chambers with a first fuel injection on top. I purchased a nice zz4 cam off a member on this site and was wondering if that would work well with my set up? I will also be using 1.6 roller rockers and lt1 injectors. Also I was wondering if I could use the lifters and push rods out of my aluminum l98 heads to but in the afrs ? Thank you for your time.

Re: zz4 cam good for my set up?

I'm sure it would work, but it seems like you'd be leaving some performance on the table. That cam is pretty mild, and between the AFRs and the FIRST setup, I would think that you could get away with a much bigger cam, and considering the heads you have, one that's much more appropriate. The ZZ4 cam is a 208/221 .474/.510 112LSA. Not only is it very mild, but it heavily favors the exhaust port. The valve opening/closing events also occur kind of late. With your heads and intake, I would think that something closer to a 218/224 type of cam would give more power without sacrificing much low end. The AFRs have a good enough I/E ratio that I wouldn't think that you would need such a bias toward the exhaust, which will let you run more duration without getting too much overlap.

Re: zz4 cam good for my set up?

Thank you for the advice I will be listing my l98 corvette heads and zz4 cam today. What would be a fair price for that combo? Would the push rods out of the l98 heads work in the afrs?
