first off hello everyone this is my first post i just recently bought an 88 gta trans am while im deployed to kuwait for the army. It has a holley stealthram 27 psi injectors, vortec heads ground for a lunati 503 roller cam and flat top pistons. my brother said it has gobbs of power but runs slightly rich and the tach doesnt work because the stealth ram needed a different distributor so they didnt know how to run the wiring to the msd ignition. Im going home in a few weeks and would be looking for some insight as to what may be wrong with it. I got the car for a steal and am willing to put some money into it to make it run like it should. Any starting ideas would be appreciated. Thank you

 

I'm not sure why the HSR would require a different distributor. The 88 already comes with the small-cap distributor and should have no issues with the HSR other than finding a place to mount the remote coil.

As for running rich, it could be a number of things. Does the car have a custom tune or is it still running on the stock tune? In either case, it could be a matter of making sure the tune has the right injector constant and correct fuel tables, or you could have some sort of other problem such as a stuck injector, bad O2 sensor, bad temp sensor, etc.
