New here! and have a question...
Hey im new to the Camaro world and as you see i have a 1986 Camaro it has a zz4 motor and 700r4 posi rear lots of fun to drive just got it in a trade and boy im happy! i have a quick question, has anyone ever heard of the choke wire burning up by touching the gas hose to the carb and messing with the acceleration of the car when driving it? Thanks in advance and hope you like my ride!

I've had the choke wire short out. It blew the fuse and the choke wouldn't open properly. If that's what happened to you, it certainly would affect acceleration.
What carb does it have?

Its has a Edelbrock 600 cfm i believe but i could be wrong. Tonight i checked a few things. First replaced the choke wire back past the burned section. Second, i sprayed carb cleaner around the base of the carb to check for vacuum leaks but no luck there i could not find a vacuum leak. i then pulled the vacuum off the vacuum advance on the distributor to check to make sure it was getting a vacuum and its definitely getting a vacuum to it(i immediately reattached the vacuum line after check). lastly tonight i turned the distributor advanced and retarded to see it it made it any better and it did make it a very small amount when advanced some but it seems like im just covering up the real issue because it still hesitates. The crazy thing is i was driving it this past weekend with no hiccups or hesitations or anything drove it about an hour away from home and back and no issues and i was doing all sorts of driving. Then Monday i gunned it leaving work and about a few miles down the road it started doing this.
Just checked the fuse and used a voltmeter to check if the choke was getting power and it is.

When i checked for leaks i made sure there was constant idle, i don't believe its a vacuum leak. i checked a couple spark plugs i need to get the rest out and make sure there all good. then i was thinking about trying another carb i have sitting around.

Well i tried my other carb which i know is a good one, also an edelbrock and i had the same issue and i even changed the carb studs on the intake and thru a new gasket on there to be sure, i went thru all the wiring under the hood and cleaned it up to make sure there wasnt a melted wire or something screwed up, still ran the same after that. im going to try seeing if a full tune up will help, new plugs, plug wires, cap, and rotor. any further help is much appreciated folks, Thanks!
