Opinion

So really i want to hear peoples opinion on what you think i should do, all my friends who know anything about cars have left the area so... I have 5 vehicles a 79 chevy 3/4 ton truck, an 81 pontiac t1000 (chevette) a 89 firebird (5-speed), a 91 bird (auto), and a 94 Camaro. The truck has its original 350 (with performer intake and 305 H.O. heads [to those that say there are no H.O. 305 heads there are atleast two "H.O." heads and these are the bigger valve versions]) with a bad knock (probably rod), T1000 is in the process of a 91 bird 3.1 and 89 camaro wiring harness (maf) swap (need a post 85 4x4 2.8 oil pan [if you have one PM me with a price shipped please]), 89 has a formula 305 with factory heads and a carbd intake with elongated center holes, 91 has a 92 caprice 305 with shaved 882 heads and a performer rpm intake, 94' was gave to me as an incentive to quit my job and relocate to a new area; its a v6 5 speed car (now a parts car). My truck has a broke spring and i currently have 3 motors and two transmissions and a transfer case on the bed so I dont plan on fixing the spring anytime soon but one of the motors is a vortec short block. I was thinking about pulling the motor from the 79 and putting the 89 bird 305 in, then taking the vortec 350 block, putting the 305 "H.O." heads on it with the performer RPM intake, and put it into the 89 firebird.

I had a nice 350 I built while i was in college but I busted the block. I spent alot of money on a cam you can no longer get (lol) it was a Comp cams thumper when they first came out. I still have the cam (and lifters) and was thinking about putting it into the vortec short block for my aforementioned swap.

Now that you know half my life story (lol) What are yalls opinion about what I should do? I dont have much $$$$ at the moment but my financial situation in the near future is looking much better so... I'm up for anything (I prefer carb'd tho, and the 89 has an electric fuel pump with Holley regulator, the 91 has a mechanical pump, t1000 is electric, and truck is of course mechanical pump, and I plan to put a poncho 400-455 in the 91 bird)
(In case someone goes to ask in the future... The other 2 motors on the truck bed are... an 81' 1.6L with a thm 180, and a locked up 86' 350 with a 700r4 and transfer case)

Re: Opinion

First delete all the blatantly irrelevant, so what remains is the first actual question: 305 HO heads, RPM intake, used cam and used lifters, with an L31 short-block assembly. The answer is go right ahead, but since the lifters aren't going back into the broken block, you must replace them to re-use the cam (which also can still be ordered new). The second question is about the carburetor with the electric pump: You can either convert the '89 to a mechanical pump, copying the '91, or you can spend more to get a return-style fuel pressure regulator.

Re: Opinion

Yeah i tend to give too much information especially if i have had a few drinks. Forgot i had even posted that but, i didnt think the vortec short block was machined for a mechanical pump. And really i want any oppinion abt what i should do with what i have
