1985 Camaro Berlinetta: Oil pan removal
I am having hell pulling this oil pan, i've tried lifting the motor, removing exhaust pipes, starter, jacking up the motor several ways, the motor mount bolts are out, i am just at a big loss, and need some help bad. the car is needing to drive asap. doing this on a buddy's car...

what's the problem? i've never taken an oil pan off on an engine in a third gen F body, but in some cars you can get the clearance you need by turning the crank so that the counterweight of the front crank throw is out of the way..
failing that, it only takes about a half hour from where you are now to unhook everything and just take the motor out of the car..

Trying to do an oil pan job that way in one of these cars, is ALOT harder than doing it the RIGHT way. As is nearly always the case, you end up doing more work trying to get out of doing work, than the work you were trying to get out of. In this case, ALOT more work. But you'll know better next time, eh?
