92 RS 305 violent rattle at 45+

Hey guys first off I want to say I bought a new 92 RS with the 5.0 in it, it has 157k miles on it but the engine runs like a champ, it has been maintained up until this problem. The car runs smooth as can be until you hit 45 and oh boy she shakes like hell, if you put it in neutral it doesn't help. I decided to take the shaft off because it wasn't the wheels or tires. The u joints were like now almost. When I was looking at the part of the shaft that goes into the tranny, I noticed there was wear on it, on one half of the shaft there's a a decently large groove In it.. About 2 inches. Do you guys think I've found my problem?? I have a t5.

Check your transmission crossmember and mount bolts, and pry up on the transmission to see if it easily moves. You shouldn't be able to move it much more than a wiggle with a prybar. If you can move it up and down or side to side easily, that mount is bad.

You might also have a bad torque arm mount... Coupled with saggy geometry from worn suspension, these cars can get pretty crazy if you don't keep the rubber in good shape. Rattles and creaks are their calling card, lol.
