92 Camaro RS power steering issues.
Hey, I'm new to the site, this is my first post.
This is my first third gen, and I bought her for a hell of a deal knowing I would have to learn some stuff and put some work into her, but now I'm already stumped. The first project I assigned myself was to replace the power steering pressure hose, as the one on it was leaking horribly. I tracked down and bought the right hose for her, got set up, pulled the old one off and got the new one on. Boom, lets go.
Sadly it doesn't seem to be that easy. As I finished tightening my new one, I realized (stupid me didn't see it before) that my old hose had what looks like a pressure switch ON the hose itself for the connector. My new hose doesn't have one, nor can I see a place to attach one. Even if I could get the switch off of the old hose. (which I cannot.)
I honestly wasn't sure if the switch was vital or not, so I cranked her up, and tried to turn the wheel to find out that it now feels as if there is NO power steering at all. So I'm assuming the switch is important.
Any one have any insight they can share? I'm dying to get her back on the road where she belongs.

The switch tells the engine computer to up the idle when it senses high pressure. As to why your power steering does not work... did you refill it with PS fluid? Was it driven a long time with little to no fluid? Is the belt slipping on the pulley?

First and foremost, thank you for your reply and help.
I did refill it, and checked to make sure there were no other leaks, and everything on that aspect seems fine. As far as driving her, I've driven a few times before replacing the hose, but I topped of the fluid every time so she hasn't been driven with low or no fluid since I've had her. I don't know about the previous owner though, he may have driven without refilling the fluid, how would that affect the power steering system as a whole?
I've also not noticed any problem with the belt, no slipping that I can tell.

Re: 92 Camaro RS power steering issues.
If the system is opened you will have to bleed it. Your supposed to have the front end off the ground but its not required, to bleed the system you will need to rev the engine to about 1500 RPM, your looking get hydrolic pressure to around 300 psi. Then turn the wheel to lock in both directions several times, this will bleed the air out of your steering box and lines. By the way I highly recomend getting a factory service manual for your car.
