110 lobe separation in an lg4??
I have a stock lg4 with a 700r4. Heard a cam with 110 degrees of lobe separation messes with the computer controls. can anybody explain this in more detail? i have to replace my head gaskets so i thought id get a p&p job done while the heads are off, and might as well get a new cam too

IMO a cam swap is gonna require a retune anyway so I'd go ahead n get a decent sized cam and get a retune I'd stick with a 111-113 LSA if it's a computer controlled car ... I thought lg4 was carbd ?

You know a stock lg4 cam is on a 109 lsa right? Lol lsa doesnt make it hard for a conputer, its overlap which is developed as a byproduct of duration and lsa. Too much duration will make some narrow band based systems harder to tune idle but good tune has ways around that.

Looks like a nice mild cam thats definately a step up from LG4 specs. Thats closer to L98/LB9 specs with a better LSA for more power in the mid range. Should run good.

That's "The RV Cam" you've heard tell of. Nothing really "performance", but considering how pathetic the LG4 cam was, it's actually a significant step up.

Should work OK. Being as how that's the cheeeeeeeepest cam on the market, LOTS of people have used it, in basically every motor that's ever existed. Very popular. You're not going to go out and instantly run with the Pro Stocks or anything, but it should result in at least somewhat of an improvement.

Bench racing this out 85 to 86 the cam was swapped to the same cam as the LG4 and the LB9 lost 25hp. I'd guess you'll make that much stockish and probably more with exhaust.
Vizard's book on Chevies goes into details on cams. Some of the stuff he gets into about it is racey, but he has a really good metaphor. The overlap of the cam is effectively like having a hole in your intake manifold. The more duration and the narrower the LSA the bigger the hole becomes and the more you have to tune around it.

Although I would still recommend upgrading the exhaust as well anyway.

i have a 1 5/8 headers and a procomp intake manifold, and since im taking the heads off i can go ahead and do whatever i need to do to them

I have a similar ? ... How do u think this cam from Howard's will perform in a 305 ... 214/218@ .050 264/270 advertised .485/.495 lift plus my 1.6 rockers = .520/.528 lift on a 114 LSA .. With good heads intake exhaust and springs to match oh it is a hydraulic roller too
