Intake manifold gaskets and injectors replace

I'm soon to be the proud owner of a new set of Bosch III injectors for my 88 5.7, and went ahead and ordered a full gasket set with adjustable fuel pressure regulator.
Decided a while back that since I'm here, might as well change intake gaskets and re-seal.
So my question is: what else?
(1) Intake bolts?
(2) EGR is a must I think
(3) Pull the valve covers too?
(4) Polish inside runner tubes?
(5) What about proper gasket fitment to intake and best sealer?

I've done a fair amount of reading here, and theres great information.
Whats the check off list here for a 25 year old, 53,000 mile original stocker that runs poor?
I figure if I'm going to do it, lets do it once, and get it right.
Opinions welcomed.

Re: Intake manifold gaskets and injectors replace

if it's not broken then don't fix it.

Find out the EXACT CAUSE of the poor running condition and address that instead.

basic tune up:
cap
rotor
wires
plugs
fuel filter

drive the damn thing !

Re: Intake manifold gaskets and injectors replace

I agree. Do not pull intake if it's not leaking.

If you have diagnosed the injectors to be bad and you already purchased them, just pull the plenum & runners and change the injectors only. FPR is also a good idea since it old and made of rubber.
