Blue smoke

When I start my '86 trans am there's a thick cloud of blue smoke coming from the exhaust pipes.
Which seals / gaskets should I replace? The car has 105k miles on it.

Most of all I'd like to see pics of other people's projects of taking apart the TPI engine.

Re: Blue smoke

That's typically the valve guide seals.

Not too tough really. Good opportunity to change out the valve springs and all their hardware as well; you might be surprised at what a difference that can make, especially at upper RPMs.

Re: Blue smoke

Ok I ran into a problem.
How do I work my way to the valves without removing the a/c compressor?
It's under high pressure and thus it can't be removed, just got it recharged last summer.
I can't take it to ac shop because it's winter in Finland and the car is already in pieces in a rented garage.

Re: Blue smoke

You should be able to unbolt the compressor and just lay it off to the side without undoing the A/C lines to it.

Notice the compressor laying on the overflow tank.
