V Belt Questions
V Belt Questions
I'm sort of a newbie here, been browsing for a while.
this site has great info and people.
Quick question regarding the V-Belts, I couldn't find this on the site.
I have an 85 Z-28 and plan on removing the A/C and Smog pump.
I don't have to worry about emissions, and i have T-tops
can I run the remaining equipment, alt, water pump, power steering with only 1 V Belt.
it seems I can remove the other two when I remove the A/C and smog pump and not interfere with how the other operations run.
this would allow me not to get a delete pulley and clean up the engine bay.
Correct me if I'm wrong here.
Also, is there a detailed write up on removing those two items?
thanks a bunch.

Re: V Belt Questions
You'll still need 2 v-belts. One to run the alt. and water pump loop and another to run the PS loop. They each line up on different grooves.
Smog pump (run by the little belt off the forward-most groove on the WP) can go away and same with the AC (the AC belt also drives the PS pump, but it's a secondary drive and the PS pump doesn't need it to function correctly).

Re: V Belt Questions
I Think A/C Cars Have 4 Belts. I Have A Non A/C Car And It Has 3 Belts.
Re: V Belt Questions
That's a great pic, I just saw the other belt behind the ps pump (sneaky little thing). Thank you. When I get around to this I will remove te other two belt and leaves the main one and the ps one in tact.

Re: V Belt Questions
I have an 84 Z28 - Are all 3 belts the same size, or do I need to find different belts to do a full replacement?
2 V-belts and 1 accessory belt? Thanks for the help.
