Still wont start....:-(
Still wont start....:-(
Ok....so a short run down of where we are at now with the son's project third gen. It's a 91 with the 3.1 V6. Had been sitting for around 5 years not running when we got it. Engine wasn't seized so we started diagnosing things and first thing we found was the fuel pump wasn't working. Dropped the tank and it was nasty black and gunky. Got that cleaned out, repleaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, new injectors and voila...was running but not running great. Did some tuneup stuff, cap, rotor, wires, oil change etc along with a new idle control and was running great. Drove it around a few times and things seemed to be working fine. Son's not old enough to drive yet so the car sat for a short time, maybe a few weeks, and I went out to start it up and it would crank but not start. At first I could hear the fuel pump priming so figured it was an electrical issue....went ahead and put in a new ignition control module under the cap and then the fuel pump quit again.....wouldn't jumper etc so I chalked it up to a cheap Autozone part so I spent the extra money and put a Bosch fuel pump in it (no pulsator back in). Pump primes and I've got plenty of pressure at the fuel rail....I'm leaning toward an ECM but wanted other's opinions if you care to give them. If do go ahead and replace the ECM any recommendations on where to get one or what brand is appreciated. The normal parts stores are only offering some off brand remans....I did find one place that offers a reman AC/Delco but wanted to see what you guys said. Thanks.

.....oh almost forget. We went ahead and did the fuel pump access in the trunk after having so much trouble with getting the tank in and out last time....mainly due to not having the ability to get the car up high enough to make it easy to get the tank in and out. I remember seeing somewhere someone did this and instead of using rubber hose to reconnect the lines that were cut they did some kind of AN fitting or something.....searching for that on the boards but not having any luck....anybody have a link for that by chance?

Yes getting good spark...and haven't actually checked the compression but it was running good after I changed the injectors and just suddenly quit running again. Your correct that AZ sold me an Airtex piece of junk....searched around and found a Bosch this time. I know opinions are split on the fuel pump access....lol
