Ignition switch help!!!

Hey everyone, I'm buying an 84 junk parts camaro(has horribly underpowered 305, 2.73 non posi, a TH350, and a MILLION problems) that runs just to use in the winter and rob parts off of for a couple of things in my firebird. Anyway I test drove the car, went to go get the money and the went to start it to drive it off and the key broke off in the ignition, the key is now stuck in the off position, and the wheel is locked. I can put in a new ignition switch in the dash and re wire it, But PLEASE will someone tell me how to break the steering wheel lock. I don't care how its done, just some easy way to break it or disable it completely. Also if I remove the ignition cylinder will the wheel lock disable, or is it a different system? Someone please help, picture would be great.

Just get the change out the ignition cylinder(it comes with keys) it's real cheap and doesn't take long to do

If I swap out the ignition cylinder will it unlock the wheel? Can I even get it out when its in the off position?

I've never had to change one on a third gen, I've done one on a 78 Monte Carlo, I'm not sure if it has to be in the on or off or run position. Maybe another experienced member can chime in. Good luck!

When I changed mine about a month ago, I had to have in the off position.

Re: Ignition switch help!!!

You could always drill out the ignition so long as it does not have vats
