Sbc 383 1 lifter no oil

Happy Holidays and Thank you for any help anyone can provide!!

I have a 383 stoker, I've recently built. New Roller Cam and New Roller Lifters. After 300 miles i noticed on the passenger side lifter chatter. I started the engine with the valve covers off. And noticed all lifter were pumping oil except the 2nd lifter. All others were okay. Is it possible that this 1 lifter has failed?Purchased new from summit

I will check the rocker and blow some compressed air through it. I wanted to cover basic before. I took the intake off to see what was going on. All of the lifter seems to be prime. 2nd Lifter that's not pumping is easily push down.

What brand of lifters?

Did the block have machine work? Was it cleaned and washed throughly?

My thoughts are something may have gotten pumped into the lifter and has it plugged.

Try pulling the lifter and cleaning out.

Yes i did have the block machine. You have a point i didn't have rings at the time when it was machine. So i had to take it back to get the piston rings filed to the cylinders. May not have been clean properly second time. I believe i got them from summit. Oem type i know they was nothing expensive. I guess i better take the driver side off and make sure everything is okay there also. Oil pressure is 55 - 60 a idle.

Gm lifter are pretty reliable.
Pull the lifter out and clean it. See it that cures it.

Re: Sbc 383 1 lifter no oil

I'm speechless... I took the valve cover off on the driver side... 1 of the screw in studs were broken........... I've had them in a previous engine. For a few years before putting them in this engine... There cheap ones off ebay... Could this be the case or is it possible there is a underlying problem.. I took the carb off.. Raw gas was sitting underneath in the intake alot and the bottom of the Carb Flaps was wet as if it was leaking gas into the intake..I'm running Psi at 4.5...

Arp screw in studs? And where that stud is broken. The lifter is destroyed. The pushrod was just sitting there

Might want to pull the head and check out the underside and the pushrod hole. That's some crazy ****, similar to what happened to me. I had two valve springs break and a rocker stud pull, pulled the valve cover and just sat there confused as to why my new parts with <4000 on them broke like that.

I know the coil height is correct. I think it's the run out on the Screw in studs i have. I checked back with the eBay user i bought them from. He discontinue selling them. because of so many problems
