I have recently purchased this used car and i have a few concerns at hand.
Foremost, my top concern is the overheating.
A 6 mile 4 minute drive will have my car at around 230 degrees, pretty harsh.
My first attempt to resolve the issue is by changing the thermostat
Ill try that first but otherwise my second issue at hand is my cars idling.
When my engine is cold and just started it will idle pretty high around 2000
But upon a min of driving and the car becoming about 100 degrees or whatever, when i come to a complete stop, i have to hold my brake and gas keeping my rpm around 15 otherwise it doesn't sound as fluent or round. Otherwise my car will. Stall below 4 and start going out.
As i am coming to the stop i also have to give it gas or it will also go out.
I have been looking around and reading posts and i have these possible solutions
- MAF sensor
( does my car have a MAP? )
- vacuum leaks
( going to spray around when i get chance check my connections)
- possibly i need to tune my throttles screw
I am pretty sure my car doesn't have an idle learning procedure
Well thats all i can think of at the moment
Thanks for the time, i appreciate the advice.

You can check for other ECM-related component issues by pulling your codes using the "paperclip trick."

You have MAF, not MAP, just FYI. Here's my opinion about the adjusting the throttle screw after owning a 2.8 for a decade. There is a plug covering that screw because it was not meant to be adjusted. The ECM and IAC will control your idle speed. If you move that screw, you are just masking another issue. If I ever had an idle issue, there was always something else wrong, once it was corrected, the idle would return to normal, the plug was still in my throttle body even after 173,000+ miles on it when I pulled it. Fix it, don't mask the real issue.

I solved my overheating problem. Didn't catch it at first glance but my radiator fan was tinkered with at the attempt of running it off a audio wire. The previous owner had spliced my radiator fan wire to hook into it his subs. Ripped that **** out amp wire and all. Rewired my fan put in a fuse and even though i haven't seen it in the act of moving, my car hasn't been going over my 1/4 mark on my thermostat gauge.
I was prepared to replace my thermostat if that didn't succeed.
I am still having a idling issue or whenever i quickly let off the gas or i am stopped.
Figure ill start with the Idle air control sensor/valve. Just seems to make most sense to me.
If i put my car into drive i creep forward slowly but i do move, so i agree about not moving my throttle screw.

Don't touch the IAC until you have made sure that each and every vacuum hose in the engine compartment isn't crumbling to pieces. You have a vacuum leak.
Re: 89 camaro 2.8 v6 automatic transmission
I went onto to change the thermostat and broke a vacume line with a small twist. Broke like a spaghetti noodle it was so fragile.
Looking for guides to replace my lines.

There is a sticker attached to the underside of the hood, over the radiator support, that says right on it "EMISSIONS HOSE ROUTING".
