ignition coil burning?? help
ignition coil burning?? help
My car recently started burning ignition coils, I tracked the problem down to a bad ground which I replaced. However after three weeks of driving the problem has comeback and the car has burned two more coils since. All the wires and grounds are testing positive/good so far. Has anyone ever experienced this problem ?? any help would be appreciated.
(my neighbor took a look at the car and told me that i might have to strip the paint of the ignition coil bracket. I painted it and the ground is directly under this bracket he believes that the paint is affecting the ground, "he stated the ground need to be on bare metal)
Also can anyone tell me what the part this is I am trying to replace it but have no luck finding it.

Re: ignition coil burning?? help
the part appears to be the EGR vacuum solenoid.
on burning the ignition coil up, are you talking about burning it out electrically, or it actually burning up like it was on fire?
is this the divorced type coil that is mounted on the motor? if it is, then other than the wiring going to it, it doesn't need a ground.
the main 2 reasons for an ignition coil to die are 1, bad wires/cap/rotor/plugs, or 2, just a cheap or defective coil.
