willie just so u know the hood needs to be tweaked a lil bit , and i do have the louvers for it , some of the mounting studs are broke though

on the driver side it sits a lil higher in the middle of the hood , should be easy enough to fix
if ya want it and shipping isnt killer u can have it for the cost of the shipping only

 

Sweet, sounds like a plan. I was thinking of turning the louvers into heat extractors for the turbo build. A little tweaking I can deal with. Just let me know when you find out

hit a snag with getting the motor in the car , the plan was to reuse my old turbo system till after the car gets painted and ten swap over to the new headers and gt3582's

well my old headers no longer fit as u can see in the pics , i need to cut the wastegate tubes and move them , not a big deal but we had no gas for the welder.
so next weekend i will fix the headers and drop the engine in , and also build the parachute mount






work may slow down on the car though now that i have a 2 wheeled transportation

 

well engine is complete and wraped back up in the engine bag , car is also in the shop and i will be taking time off of work to complete it , first order of busniness is to rip out the old hacked up harness i bought and completly rewire the car and the standalone ecm to make it much neater and more professional looking

once i rip out the old harness i will strip the engine bay and paint it with the chassi black paint i picked up the install the engine and finish the rewiring


the goal is to have the car running and ready to go by next weekend

will only take 20 mins to rip out all the wiring under the hood( theres not alot there) , and about 2 hours to run the new engine haness

the chassi paint will take a full day , getting the engine bolted back in is a breeze , but i need to fab a th400 and tq arm mount.

i have a base tune that should be close but ill be driving it with no springs in the wastegates at first , without the springs it will only make 3-4 psi of boost which even if the tune is off by alot wont hurt then engine

im still waiting on my 4 inch cowl hood as well

 

well it runs but motor and trans are coming back out , something is squealing something awful and i cant pinpoint if its coming from the engine or trans

engine has rock steady oil presure and revs good , the trans is a fresh built th400

i was thinking about throwing the 700r4 back in it before i pull everything to see if it goes away

no i even pulled the alternator belt to be sure , i need to check the front bushing on the trans im thinking thats what it is as the converter didnt seat real easy
im pretty sure it is not the engine

 

gotcha, i had that happen once then it stopped and started pissing tranny fluid, took me forever to put two and two together.

Is that the Ebay Cheap knock off HSR. I was thinking about getting it but I was worried about the runner port size. I was going to mate them to AFR 210s. But I'm leaning towards LS swap

 

yes it is , it will goto a 1206 without issues , and apears it can goto a 1207 as well , my heads are just under a 1206 so thats as far as went with it , i had a second manfold i bought i was coing to cut up to get actual port thickness dimensions but my friend bought it from me to put on his vortec truck

Do you think maybe the TC didn't seat all the way and screwed the pump up? It happens….

my built 700r4 should hold up for a lil while at low boost i hope, motor should make 450-475 hp n/a so a few pounds of boost should be well past the 700's limits even being a built unit ,one of my friends is pushing me twards a 4l80e which if the th400 is fine i may sell and swap to a 4l80

ive got 5.5 psi springs in the gates right now , but even with those springs i know that i will have a minimum 12 psi atleast with the log headers , im going to be building up and fowards this week soon as i get over the pnemonia i have, so hopefully i can keep the boost down for now

 

With 5.5 pounds of boost, you might be OK. Not too sure I'd feel comfy running it at the track that way however…

Do you trailer the car there or drive it there? In my mind, that's makes a huge difference!

 

i street drive the car everywere its my llate fall/ spring/summer daily driver , i make 120 mile round trip with it once a week weather permiting

but as far as the track either track is 270ish miles away so i will be trailering the car incase something breaks

rmr up north is 262 miles iirc
and las vegas is 272 miles south iirc

i prefer vegas as it at a much lower elevation

 

engine is back on the stand , pulled it to paint the engine bay chassi black and to complteley redo the wiring , so far today i got the engine pulled and all the wiring stripped out of the engine bay. mocked up the s10 heater box

tommorow i will paint the bay wire up the heater n and drop the engine back in and start wiring up the ecm

nice fab skills! i like that your trying to stay with the "cheap thrills-budget build" direction. it also proves that the more you can do yourself, you dont have to pay someone else to do it.

 

well the 400$ up and fowards crashed into my new nice fabbed valve covers , and the only fix was to notch my valve covers , which i was not doing

so i stared at the long tubes my friend had given me and after looking at them i relized it would be very seay to hack them up and reweld them into up and fowards.

it took about 2.5 hours to go from long tube headers to fully tacked up up and fowards turbo headers

im not going to fully weld them till i get final placment of the turbos in the engine bay incase i need to move any of the tubes around


if anyone is interested in my old twin turbo log headers i will make u a screaming deal on them , if not im going to cut the old turbo flanges off them to use on my new headers lol

 

well its 530 am on my way out the door to head over and work on the car , hopefully by lunch time i can have everything back in the car and buttoned up, car is supposed to delivered to the body shop by this weekend for paint

its basically black with dark blue pearl powder and some small flake in it
the whole car will be that color and then im going to get a silver stripe kit and silver emblems

anyways heres whats going on , i need to rework the up and fowards i built just a lil built



im very pleased with them as i could run dual 4 inch downpipes with tons of clearance , but instead of the twin gt3582's i think im going to pick up something like a single 88 mm turbo to use with the up and fowards

so for the time being i cleaned up the log headers and cut the old wastegate stands off since they hit the new valve covers , i think im just going to make new wastegate stands on 45* angles which will make everything clear again


as u can see in this picture the flange on the turbine housing also hit the valve cover so i took a grinder to it to get it to clear



on the todo list is to figure out were to mount the new afpr and run the new fuel lines
adapt the s10 heater box fan wiring to the stock f-body wiring
swap the power steering box out for a manual box
move the intercooler out fowards after cutting the crash bar
wire up the new megasquirt harness

other then that i have some areo mods im doing on the car ive got a custom rear diffuser on the way along with a front splitter

 

so my new hood arrived today
this is my fist steel amd hood and i love it , look sso much better then the harwood hoods
the downside is mine arrived damaged as u can see below
but big thumbs up to summit racing , no questions asked and they sent out a new hood by the time i was off the phone with them , should be here by friday as the replacement is comming from nv instead of ohio , why they didnt just ship it from nv to begin with is beyond me though

Hey if your only going with one turbo you can donate the other to the second stage of my build just kidding.

I am serious about the single turbo 3.4/3500 hybrid build though, just need to find a good job to start accumulating parts.

When are you hoping to have it out ? I just destroyed my stk LS1 but not before making 609 @ the wheels on 26 lbs of boost @ 5000 rpms it was still climbing but we shut it off. Building a forged LQ4 this time hopefully getting it back from machine shop next week. im hoping to get it down to las vegas motor speedway in may but relaisticly with what i have left to do it wont be till june , i still have to install the cage and chute + get this this thing tuned

caps are not splayed as it was a factory 4 bolt block , if i build another bottom end it will be a roller block with splayed caps

when i get the tune dialed in and the suspension all good im hoping for low 9's high 8.90's out of it. if the engine stays together it should be capable of that
once i hit that ill back the boost off and let it live a while as a high 9 second car

i want one good pass down the strip out of it and one 200+ mph run on the salt with it then i could care less if it blows up lol

 

That's kewl that's what I am looking for with it turned up a low 9 or a 8.99999999999999 would make me happy. I just got the chassis certified
and practiced packing the chute a few times so I just need it back in and a little more tuning then start playing with the suspension at the track.

 

unfortunatly i have to much to do still to get the car to the body shop this weekend

 

figured id update this before i head to bed

i got the headers modified and installed for the last time, turbos are also bolted on for the last time
downpipes need to be modified to fit past the new wastegate placement

got the oil presure and fuel presure gauges mounted up
also picked up a massive intercooler out of a diesel , lets just say it takes up the entire front of the car ,makes my 12x32x4 intercooler look small
i also rewired the fuel pumps
pump #1 is on with the key
pump #2 and pump #3 are both ecm controlled and are triggered by boost presure

my antilag/launchcontrol switch has been moved from a toggle to the factory hatch release switch ( no more toggles in the car for anything , so besides some gauges in the car when u look inside it there wont be anything to really give away whats under the hood

on the todo list is weld in a bung for the trans temp sending unit so i can datalog trans temp
modify downpipes
fit the new intercooler
and install the correct spark plugs ones i have now are way to hot


down the road i will be switching to a sequential injection , and cop ignition system


im hoping to be driving the car by wensday or thursday at the latest

i picked up the last few parts i needed yesterday.
holy crap 31$'s for a bottle of gm e.o.s from the dealer ,ill tell ya what that crap has gotten expensive , so after the next oil change ill switch to royal purple or some other oil that has the zinc in it

also picked up the right heat range spark plugs

up and fowards are for sale they are currently only tacked together so i can change the collector and put whatever flange u want on it for the buyer

 

well i should have been driving the car home today ,only thing left to do was finish up the wiring and mount the fpr , got everything done except i didnt see my tps pigtial fall on the floor and i stepped on it and broke it, of course i do this about 30 mins after the only parts store in town closes.

 

This is cool. I am jonesin to hear this thing run.
