Timing issues
So I have a 1990 IROC-Z 305 Tpi 5 speed. My issue has been that it cuts out on acceleration. New fuel pump, filter, wires, spark plugs, cap rotor, and msd coil. My friend came over with his scanner and we drove with it hooked up. Everything is working fine except when you accelerate it takes all the timing away and when you let off or are at cruise speed it give it a tone. Example 45 mph in 4th gear 2200 rpm 42 degree advance. Punch it and it drops to 8.
Does anyone have any idea what would cause it? Bad module? Bad distributor? I replaced the module 6 months ago. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Timing issues
I would think the module is bad. I had something similar happen before, new module took care of it.
