Crankshaft Pully not alighned

Hey guys,
I have a 305 TBI with the 6 groove belt system. The crankshaft pully is aligned out from the rest of the pully system by about a groove width. This actually caused a new belt to completely lose one of its grooves. Any idea what could have caused this?

It either has the wrong pulley from a truck installed or the balancer has failed. the solution would be replace the defective part.

Re: Crankshaft Pully not alighned

Also check that the balancer is fully on the crank snout-if it isn't tightly seated against the timing sprocket,pulley/belt alignment will be "off" and the sprocket could be slightly loose and"working"on the crank snout-wearing on it..

Re: Crankshaft Pully not alighned

I just replaced my crank pully. "went with a hardened steel one" after install I noticed I still had my belts with a lot of travel/ bind??/, and the drip from the waterpump. pulled it. about to go put it back on. its been below freezing every day here lately. I might go ahead an replace the harmonic.. I feel like I might have this issue.

hope I don't have to replace any freeze plugs.
