Idk about anyone who is thirdgen specific (or any mechanics really, I do everything myself except for tires).

Bob Hook Chevrolet on Bardstown Road has always done good work on different stuff for my family though.

Re: Looking for a Good Third gen Mechanic

These cars are classics now(you can read as old). The GM master techs I worked with back in 90-92 at Lum and Utti Pontiac are all long gone. Even I rarely see one of these cars in the shop anymore, aside from beaters that have been raped repeatedly by some back yard hack trying to build a hotrod or just make it run. This really breaks my heart as I love the third gen platform. But then we saw the same thing happen to so many 67-69 Camaros and Chevelles back in the day. No wonder they're so rare and valuable now.

I second what Red Leader says. Best to gather good service information. Helms Factory Shop Manual is the original that we used at the dealer and still available either in printed form or on disk. No better source for service information. Collect the tools and learn to love caring for your third gen yourself. After 16 years of ownership, it brings me great joy to know that every part of my car is built by my own hands. So much better now than GM ever made it.
