Should I go for Efree fuel in my L98?
Recently i found a Valero station nearby that offers ethanol free 91 octane fuel. Now it does cost more for sure, but should i go for it? I checked out the pumps, and there is only 1 handle on a station, thus all 3 blends come out of the same pump. so what are you really getting? I am not driving my 3rd gen now, but when i do i always put 93 octane in it. It still has the original injectors, and all other fuel components. I have not had any problems with E10, but i do my own chips, and lately been adjusting for the E10.
Previously, the nearest Efree pump was 40 miles away, and not on my regular travel route. Now i also have a '90 C4, so i could put it in that as well. But if I goto pure gas, and tune for it, then i am stuck with it.
I have read lots of posts on this subject, and most folks say best bet is pure gas for an older 3rd gen.

I wouldn't bother. You might get SLIIIIGHTLY better gas mileage.

Try it and see.
Preferably blind. I.e. have SOMEBODY ELSE take it to the station and put $10 or something in it; then when that runs out, have em go put $10 of the other kind in it; see if you can tell which one was which.
My money is on, you have exactly a 50% chance of guessing right.

Not a "theory".
Don't blow it off.
Be HONEST when you try it: which means, do it so YOU DON'T KNOW what's in the tank, and you HONESTLY TRUTHFULLY WITHOUT BIAS OR PREJUDICE evaluate WHAT THE CAR ACTUALLY DOES, not, try to make whatever it does fit whatever you want to believe about whatever you want to "prove".
Try $20 if you have to.
Hell, try a full tank.
