The Small Block Chevy

It never stops to amaze me what these motors can do. Even a 3rd gen 92' 305 which came that pushed 230 stock horse power! Talk about wimpy. Seriously though, threw a weiand intake, Holley 600, comp cam, 4th gen rear with 3.42s, turbo 350 with a homemade shift kit, torque converter with 2000 stall and the damn thing nearly pulls the tires off the ground. Talk about scaring the crap out of me... Testing car after tuning with carb adjustments with best friend in pass seat, throw it into first and floor it... wow.. Felt like i was an inch from pulling the pass side. For a street car getting 12.5 mpg I think that is pretty darn good.

Now on another topic, I'm so tired of all these people dissing the small blocks... I want everyone to know right now all these mods and daily driving is being done on 92' 305 with at LEAST 200k. Thats some Chevy love right there. She has yet to let me down... (Other than the crap motor rebuild done on the 350 that made internal seal break.)

More like 160 stock hp. You might be making 230 now with mods.

Even still! For a 305?! I'm impressed. Can't wait for this 388

Although it did contribute even more to my frame damage
... Time to get my hands on another 3rd gen shell.. beef it up this time

Curious about your comment. Did you tweak your unibody? would SFC's have prevented the problem?

hehe, yep there's defiantly a reason gm produced the SBC for almost 40 years before they started making major changes.

Theres pretty much no substitute for a chevy small block. Tho if you've never had a chance to go for a ride in a big block car, give it a go. You'll see the difference right away.

I'm sad to say I never have! As long as its a chevy!

Anddddddd... Yeahhhh... I noticed a small spot weld broken when I took all carpet and insulation out right below steering column and stress on all the others. 99% sure I heard about 3 more pop loose when I let that one rip. Now that depends on how well the SFCs are... There is one floating around on the forum which is how I plan to build my next set that connect in multiple places and make it very sturdy... https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/fabr...al-design.html also, I have already made a strut tower brace to install on it. sooooooooo aiming for 84 though. Damn emissions in Texas are killing me... Can't go above 85 carbed no computer...

BTW!!!! WTF is up with 1982?!?!?! First year model... yeah, yeah. But my dad also had an 82'... Also had broken subframe.. wtf. I've had 7 thirdgens (Part out cars) and none of them have this problem, none 82
