5.3 vs tpi 350
Hello, my car has a tbi 305, and I'm wanting to swap out the eng.
I have a tpi350 complete with ecm,hardness,etc and I can get a 5.3
Ls,complete with ecm,hardness,etc!!!
I known the 305 is 210hp maybe!! and the 5.3 is around 300hp
Witch swap to you guys think is better???
I like the tpi for the looks but to get 300+ hp it will take more $$ right??
Btw my car is a 91 vert.

Re: 5.3 vs tpi 350
I'd imagine getting to 300 HP with either engine is going to cost close to the same. The 5.3 might be cheaper in only engine related parts but nearly three times the labor is required, and you have to buy quite a few swap specific parts. You could throw a set of heads and a cam (Assuming the short block is in good shape and has decently low mileage) and probably get up to 300 and maintain an easy and simple swap.

Re: 5.3 vs tpi 350
Your 305 came with 170 HP.
The cost of getting to 300 HP with those 2 choices of engine is NOT the same.
The 5.3 ALREADY COMES WITH about that.
The 350 TPI came with something around 230 HP. It takes some serious doing to get one of those up to 300.
There is no contest. The 5.3 will win every time; both power, and $$$.
