Speedo cable pulled out?
I have my cluster out since speedo wouldn't turn. While driving I see the speedo cable end. The little spindle inside the shield isn't turning at all while driving
So I played with it and it pulled right out. It isn't broken and looks good new actually but the opposite end with metal square end how do I reinsert that ? Just push it back from cluster end and rotate till something clicks or do I have to remove sheath from tranny and reinstall?
I see under the master cylinder is another joint for the speedo cable just a screwed fitting that looks like it should unscrew but hard to get tools in there
Any tips?

Re: Speedo cable pulled out?
Yup, just pushes back in.
It'd be a good idea to clean it up and put fresh grease on it (white lithium works good), and clean all the old lube out of the sheath. Do the same to the other half of it, which since it's in a hotter place, is probably worse.
Most likely the reason it isn't spinning, will be found closer to the transmission.

Re: Speedo cable pulled out?
Thanks I will lube it up. So when I push it back in should I just rotate it with a pair of needle nose and does it click into place? How far should it go in past the metal collar?
When it is engaged correctly should I be able to see it rotate immediately even in reverse? Just looking for ways way to test in garage?
is it easy to get to if I jack driver side up and lean under to look for the tranny cable connection?

Re: Speedo cable pulled out?
Fixed it.
I pulled the tranny side and the wire was all mangled up. $10 at autozone. Little hard to reroute but easy job and works again!
And tip to future users. After new part installed the spindle should move immediatly even in reverse if it is working properly
