89 v6 parts car. Can I use parts?
This is gonna sound a little stupid, but I'm curious about some of the parts on this car and whether I can use them for a manual transmission swap. it had a v6 with t5 combo in it, and I wanted to know if the pedals, master/slave, stuff like that would be useable in my 91 v8? also would the 89 dash pad bolt right on to my 91?
Thanks guys.
Thanks guys.

Yes the 5 spd parts you mentioned will work just fine in your car. Provided both cars are firebirds the dash will be a direct swap. If the 89 is a camaro, you'll still be alright as you can easily sell off the dash to buy a firebird one. The camaro dash brings a premium over a firebird one.

The only manual transmission parts you can't use are the bellhousing, pressure plate, flywheel, and clutch disc. Everything else can be swapped over, including the transmission itself. You need a V8 bellhousing, pressure plate and flywheel, and a clutch disc from an early 80's S10 V6 truck. Or you can buy one of the conversion clutch discs online. I had to grind about 1/8" off the nose of the input shaft on my transmission to get it to bolt up fully, but it works fine.

just be prepared replace that stock V6 trans after you beat on in behind a healthy V8.
then you get to do it all over again... the right way.

Key words there: "beat on it". If you don't it will last. Mine is going on 8k miles behind a V8, and that's after 103k miles behind the original V6. They can even be destroyed behind a V6 if ou beat in them. Friend of mine destroyed 2 behind the stock a 2.8 V6. One at 101k miles, the second at 125k miles.

I forgot to say it didn't have the motor or trans lol, its just a roller. I decided against it, mostly because I didn't have a way to haul it around right now and wouldn't for a couple days. sad though, the seats and dash alone would have been worth the money xD. oh well, I need to stop spending money I dont really have anyway.
