Delay wiper questions

Hi Guys,

My 87 Camaro has an delay wiper switch fitted on the stalk, but I'm experiencing the issue of the wipers stopping wherever they are if I switch to the delay setting. I've read a couple of threads about there being differences between non-delay a delay motors, and that the above will happen if you have a non-delay on a delay stalk.

I've been looking at the wiper motor itself, and there appears to be something I can't see on any pictures I've looked at online, and was hoping someone could identify it for me (my initial thought was that it would be a washer jet pump, but that is screwed into the firewall on its own); it's the part on the left of the motor with the two barbed connectors sticking out of it. Is that a pump, or does it require a vacuum feed?

If it is just a pump, is my only option to get delay working again to find a wiper motor with delay somewhere, or can this one be modified?

Re: Delay wiper questions

That's the washer pump.

The motors are the same between the delay and non-delay setups, it's the motor cover which is different. A non-delay cover just has a simple park switch inside, while the delay cover has a PCB with the timing circuitry inside.

If the wipers are working in the Hi and Lo position but not in the delay position, you need a new cover.
