starting problems
Ok so on my 86 iroc i have a new starter i put on it a few years ago and it hast been driven and a new bettery put on last summer, few weeks ago i tried to start it and the first turn it tried to turn over but would then every other turn not a sound no click nothing just hearing the fan and dash lights on. It would do that every day ,first turn try to start then nothing. About day three first it started itwas kinda gurgling so i gave it a little throttle and it putted out and stalled after that nothing again so i took my starter and battery a got them tester (both were good), i took it and hook them back up and now i dont even get any power. I put the small purple ignition wire on the small inside terminal and the big red ones on the big terminal. I have no idea what could be the problem. (BTW the alternator tested good last summer and i havent drove this car i been doing work little by little but it used to run and now it wont and this is my last problem i cant solve before i should have it on the road)PLEASEE HELP Thanks in advance

Re: starting problems
If I understand this your complaint is No crank. As in you turn the key to start and nothing happens, the engine does not turn over and no clicking is heard. The first thing to do is get a small wire brush and clean all the connections. They don't have to shine, but no green or black on them. If the car won't crank after that you will need to get a multimeter to check voltage and resistance.

Re: starting problems
By clean them I mean take it apart and where the metal touches, it should be bare metal. Once you are sure your connections are clean check the resistance on the large red cable from the battery to the starter and check the frame of the starter to the neg. terminal on the battery. .5 ohms would be good. The small wire going to the starter solinoid should have 12volts or battery voltage when the key is turned to start.
