More get up and go?
Hey guys,
I have a 82 firebird with a 305 with a 700r4 (will have th350 soon). It also has 3:73 gears. Is there anything it can add or do to give the car a little more get up and go?
Thanks

You could re gear it. That will give you more torque but you won't have quite the top end speed. Also, I have heard that the 700r is a good tranny when built right. I am getting ready to build mine and put a manual valve body in it.

Re: More get up and go?
You have good gears, and both those tranny's are good (partial to the TH350 myself). Though honestly you may want to consider going down to 3.42's or maybe even 3.23's if you are getting rid of your overdrive. You'll be screaming on the highway with 3.73's and 3 gears.
You could do exhaust if you haven't already, or find a nice 350 and do the swap.

I traded for a th-375 with a shift kit. My 305 is very snappy compared to other ones Ive been in. Its a 334 stroker with aluminum heads.
Thanks
