Temp sensor help

Hey guys, I'm wrapping up my LQ4 swap and I have a question here, I've got a standalone temp gauge that I'm running, I ordered autometers adapter and I'm having some trouble, in the pics you can see the sending unit still up inside the adapter. I have it threaded in as far as it will let me, is this going to work? Thanks for any help
