383 Horsepower numbers

I have a eagle stroker 383 kit with stealth ram intake, comp 503 (.510) lift cam, 1:6 roller rockers, Patriot aluminium heads, 10:1 compression. Shop said it should have an estimated 450hp to crank. Car at dyno 286hp/296lbs to wheels . BUT, the transmission was going bad and on dyno blew third gear out. I was wondering what numbers the car should be putting to wheels.

Re: 383 Horsepower numbers

my 383 made 465 crank HP 472 ft lbs.. on the engine dyno..

mid 12s at the track confirmed this..

my advise; if the entire drivetrain & exhaust is not optimized for the new engine.. the chassis dyno will tell you...

A healthy 383 needs needs a healthy exhaust system a 3 1/2 collector pipe min.

I used to run a 4" mufflex system with 3" y-pipe to hooker super comp headers.

350 whp wouldnt be to bad for that cam and heads.... On a dynojet. 20-30 less on some mustang dynos but not all. Just depends on calibrations

Agreed. My 355 with trick flow heads and the LT4 hot cam made 325 with a conservative advance on a mustang dyno.
