Hey all so ever since ive owned my car the light for the gear indicator on the 700r4 has never lit up EXCEPT ONCE! Years ago i just started the car up and started driving and noticed the gears were lit up!!! it looked cool too. i was upset because it never came on again. What do you think it could be? the firebird isnt my DD right now (yet!) so im going to disassemble the console soon and was just wondering what you guys think it could possibly be if it was able to turn on once randomly. also if it is even replaceable.

Are you talking about the light under the shift plate? as in: P-R-N-D-D-2-1 were lit up? because that's just a little light in the console

 

Yessir that light, I know it doesn't indicate the actual gear, but it supossed to light up the shift plate like you say. Is it just a bulb I can find a replacement at a local auto store?

 

Mmk, yes, it is just a bulb that can be replaced. Any autoparts store should carry a replacement for it.

I'm gonna take a guess here and say that the part number applies to the camaro shifter as well?

 

I would guess the possibility for it to be different is probably less than 5%. So buy it! What do you got to lose , other than $3.99 lol
