Engine done, now carb or fuel injection?

Pick up my motor today. Had a local shop do the build for me and couldn't be happier. Now I'm not sure what I want to do as far as fuel goes. Here are the specs of the motor

350 spayed 2 bolt block 3970010
Jan-cen did all machining
Bored .030 over
Balanced
Oversized bearings
Cut mains
Forged 4340 crank
Power forged pistons
1.5 self align rockers
Comp cams XE262H-10
64cc cast vortec heads
Rpm air gap vtec intake.

Now the motor is set up with the air gap for a carb setup but the car was formally a tpi 305. Either way it's going to cost the same to run fuel injected or carded by the time I buy all the parts needed. Not sure what hp numbers I'm looking at with my setup. The shop told me around 375-400 flywheel hp?
If I go carbed what should I use? If fuel injected what injectors? This is where I'm torn. Please give me your insight

Thanks
Keith

IF its going to cost you the same to go carb or FI like you claim, then FI would be my obvious choice, but in the end, go with what YOU are more familiar/comfortable with tuning.

If you run TPI you are up for the $500 Vortec base just to keep the restrictive TPI setup

( big tube runners to match $470 extra cost )

so you may as well buy a $660 Vortec HSR that has much more Hp potential

Reuse all your existing TPI wiring , sensors and ECM ( w/ custom tune )

I agree w vetteoz:

Since the car was FI originally, IMO you're money and performance ahead, to leave it that way.

BUT NOT leave it TPI. That system is guaranteed to be a disappointment and waste of all the other money you've spent.

In ANY case, the stock tune will not be adequate; any more than building a mountain motor with a big cam and high compression and all that back in the 70s, and leaving the vehicle's stock 2-bbl carb on top of it.

Get the HSR, and either all the PROM burning stuff and whatnot to work with the Stone Age relic computer that came in the car, or some modern computer that is easier for a non-techie to tune.

Never heard of a XE265. Maybe a new product Comp added to their lineup? Re-check the #.

Cam specs?
I have been looking at this intake

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevy-SBC-350-TPI-EFI-1957-1986-Ram-Air-Upper-And-Lower-Intake-Manifold-System-/181329849982?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a3819ee7e&vxp=mtr
And my cam specs are,

Intake .462 lift Exhaust .469
.006 tapped lift 262 270

Duration at .050 218 224
Lobe. .3080 .3130
Lobe separation 110.0

I will more than likely run the procomp fuel rails but not sure on injector size yet. I also already have a walbor 255 fuel pump installed.

Thanks
Keith

Conciously trying to keep your money out of China is noble, but futile. Almost every household comsumer item you have purchased in the past 5 years is made in China. The issue is furthur complicated by American manufacturuers slapping their name on cheapo stuff, or worse yet, they set up shop over there.

As consumers, the best we can do is to hope our information is correct when we sift through it before we make our decision to buy. If it's blatant like the FI system listed above, it's a much easier call.

I died when I read that...

It's a hell of a deal until you go to bolt the thing on and notice how terrible the machining is. Maybe, just MAYBE it is a quality piece of aluminum though.

Re: Engine done, now carb or fuel injection?

I have read the posts on the ports being a little pour bot has plenty of room to be cleaned up and ported for better flow over the hrs intake. Now please leave the knockoff debate to a thread of its own.
