Bad Squeal AC/AIR acc belt area, belt size to bypass?

I have an 88 TPI auto with AIR and AC

I finally got tune dial in and then bam I hear clunking from front passenger side and had knock counts at WOT tune and everything engine sound fine until yesterday I hear bam and mech rotation knock at start up, engine runs and idles fine sounds strong and drove but knock was muffled and got loud. Hence my knock counts from pass side i suspect

I just started up and whine really loud, belt stills turns engine runs not stall or smoke but the whine sounds like AIR or AC area. I removed the AIR tubes already and from code.

not sure if teh AC clutch failed? I do not have the AC on or used it yet?

could teh AIR pump install and whine almost saw smoke from that area as it ran and shut it down

quick test is to buy a new shorter belt and bypass the AIR. Any suggestion to test AC clutch or smog?

what is the belt size for AIR bypass?

Well it was the smog pump. I bought a 96.9" belt, shorter actually then the stock one it is a k9790 part number not k9690 or something.

I thought with the shorter belt mod I can just by pass the smog and not have to remove it but not the case. you have to physically remove the smog pump otherwise the pulley is still in the path to the AC.

I did run the belt to the right and over the smog instead of around it to the left so it only contacts it around 12-3oclock position veris the 6-12 position.

IN trying to remove the pulley off the front of the Smog it broke free and started to spin so I left it in temporarily and I have to go back and remove. I assume the shorter belt will have enough slack then to install with the pulley gone.
