Heat Soak

I've been dealing with this problem for awhile and I have found a solution but want to know if anyone has followed this method and if it works. I tried a heat shield and heat wrap but my header is so close to my solinoid it still is destroying it. I just want to know if anyone other than the guy who made the post has had any success with this solution.

Re: Heat Soak

Didn't read the link, but I've found that a mini-starter off a later 4th Gen F-body generally cures ALL these types of problems. Being smaller, the starter and solenoind are physically further from the header pipes. Also, the smaller motor in combination with the built-in gear reduction requires far fewer amps to crank the engine over, making it less sensitive to heat-soak problems.

The only problems I see with doing that is spending the money on another starter and how do i know it will fit and not **** something up.

All of your answers are already in your other thread:

The solution was handed to you. You can argue and "what-if" as long as you want, or you can get a mini-starter and put the issue behind you.

Well all these people are saying different ones. Do they all mount with my trans or what? That's my problem. I looked some up but idk if they fit or what. I don't want to buy the wrong one.
