Buy one

http://www.summitracing.com/int/sear...=rev%20limiter.

Or screw a block of timber under the gas pedal

Alternatively buy a Ign box with a built in adjustable limiter

Re: no rev limiter?

Or teach your driver how to pay attention to the RPMs.

I've been driving cars without rev limiters ALL MY LIFE; hasn't seemed to shorten my lifespan any. (yet)

Mmmm I believe there is a stock rev limiter, but I kid you not I think I heard it was set at like 9400 rpm.

Bingo! Use your tach
Don't have one? ......get one!

Seriously, rev-limiters are there for non-car people who have no mechanical concept. The fact that you're even on this board makes me think you don't really need it.

Re: no rev limiter?

High end rev limiter is to keep you from exceeding the limits of the cam and valve train. If you're taking the engine up high enough to float the valves then buy a rev limiter. I shift my engine at 7600 rpm and the rev limiter is set to 7900 although the engine could easily go to that rpm. I keep the shift point lower to be easier on parts. The rev limiter is only there are a safeguard in case something happens and I've never bounced off the high end rev limiter.

If you have a "street engine" that starts floating the valves at a much lower rpm like 5500 then you set the rev limiter below that to prevent valve train damage. The cam card will tell you the rpm range of the cam. Providing the valve train will let it spin that high without floating valves, set the rev limiter to that point.

It's not really possible to check a high end rev limiter. You'll cause a lot of damage spinning up the engine to that rpm without a load on it. With an automatic transmission in gear, you can only bring the rpms up to the stall speed of the converter with a transbrake or without a transbrake, until the vehicles brakes cant hold it back any more. If you get into high gear and get close to the rev limiter setting, you'll feel it. Other than that, you'll never notice a high end rev limiter during normal use.

Re: no rev limiter?

Yea I do have a tach for it for sure.. it has two settings one to shift and one that shows exceeded the 2nd rpm setting. I generally go by those but wanted to safe guard car for when wife drives it. Lol
