Random no start/hard start??? runs perfect...
87 GTA, 305 5spd.
Randomly ill turn the key and get no crank nothing, all power comes on perfect just no crank. Bomb start it and it will start just fine on its own with the key for another indeterminate amount of time. To the point where I wont park unless im on a hill lol
Now, she used to be a quick turn of the key and she would roar to life. Now she is hard to start most of the time, sometimes she will kick over quick.
Usually it takes a few cranks, (6 slow ones last time) to turn her over, and the longer it cranks the more she stumbles to start.
But once she is running, shes absolutely fine, runs like a top. And she will bomb start no problems and fires right up.
This being said, I did replace my starter (8 years ago now), just got a new battery and replaced my ignition cylinder last year. She is to old for VATS so i know thats not the issue. Have a new dizzy in it about 6 years ago and timing it fine. Fuel pump/spark plugs/wires etc obviously good as she runs perfect once she starts. I also have my neutral safety switch bypassed so its not the culprit either.
I was thinking it might be the starter itself having issues? Going to double check all my grounds and such this weekend but was curious if anyone else has had this problem or something similar that has just (of course) randomly popped up?
Im heading on a 8hr ish drive in two weeks and would like to try and sort it out before the car show. Nothing worse then be at the show and have her not start and need a push
Thanks in advance guys

Sounds like your starter solenoid going out.
If by "bomb start" you mean popping the clutch to get it to start, then you basically isolated the problem to the starter/and or its circuit.
