Heater control valve

I just replaced the vacuum hose from the hard line to the heater valve and from the manifold to the hard line going to the heater controls. while idling i noticed that the heater valve was pouring coolant out of it. could this be because i replaced the lines bringing more vacuum to the valve and it couldnt take that much PSI or is it because the valve was old and just busted.

thanks
steve

Re: Heater control valve

simple as that. not drawing too much PSI with the upgraded tubing?

The engine doesn't draw any more vacuum than it did brand new simply because it has new vacuum lines so you haven't increased anything. That would require mechanical changes like a cam swap. If you had no vacuum to the valve before and now adding vacuum back to the valve, well I guess that could do it, but understand that it did it because the valve was weak or damaged to begin with and moving its internal parts just finished off what was already bad.

Re: Heater control valve

alright sounds good. i was just thinking with the larger tubing and less restriction it would allow more vacuum to be created. thanks!!

Re: Heater control valve

The heater control valves and pieces of craptastic plastic. I've had 3 break on me in the past year and a half. First had a small crack and the second 2 had one of the outlets seared right off.
