Bad Ignition Control Module

I have a 90 IROC-Z w/ a 350. This is the 3rd ignition control monitor I have had to replace due to it going bad. If there was a short going to the ICM...where or what would I check for a short...the Ignition coil has 12 volts going to....but the ICM module itself checks out bad....when I test it...it only has .3 volts going to it. Last time I replaced it...it fired right up...30 miles later...it died again. Replaced it again and same thing. What would keep the ICM going bad....also has a brand new distributor on it. Please advise

Re: Bad Ignition Control Module

Have you been putting the heat sink compound under before installing?

Yes...they were both brand new distributors with new ICM's.

Are you talking about the grounds that go to the block?

Re: Bad Ignition Control Module

Are there any ECM wires that run to the ignition control module or coil?

are you using good quality ICMs? not from auto zone or advance? I used the best one I could get from oreilleys BWD select $65. now if your ign coil is going away it can cause all manner of problems.have it checked .and as mentioned go over all related wiring .make sure it all is up to spec.

Re: Bad Ignition Control Module

Bad/going bad coils can fry ICMs, as well as bad/going bad pick up coils in the distributor.
