I have a 1991 Z28 5.7

Tonight I drove the car for 15 minutes, parked it for about 45, then started my 15 minute drive home.

6 times the car started jerking hard and quit. I just kept restarting until I got it home. It kept on dying at shorter and shorter distances. First time I made it another 3 miles, last time about 100 yards.


Does anyone have a clue what it could be? I have changed fuel pump/filter and that's it. It is a project car but the engine seems pretty strong. Could it be a heating issue?

The gauge cluster is broken and there was no visible signs of smoke. But I looked under the hood and it looked like I had a hose with a small kink in it that I replaced today. ????

Just trying to think....but it jerked hard and seconds after jerking quit...and kept on doing it....

Your alternator putting out?

 

Are any of the accessories on your serpentine belt seized? Check to make sure all your pulleys freewheel okay. Good luck.

 

battery is brand new...

alternator seems to be okay....I had a 92 camaro thats alternator went out and had the typical characteristics....this time it seems different.
