engine oil in radiator, NO water in oil

I have a 98 Mustang there is black oil in the radiator, but NO water in the oil. Any ideas

Hi drrusscampbell ,

You'll likely get better response at a Mustang board , since this board covers 82-92 Camaro and Firebird only . As a generic answer , not knowing anything about Mustangs , have you done a pressure test on the cooling system ? And if it has an automatic transmission , have you checked it's fluid ?

Fluids go from high pressure to low pressure. Cooling system maxes out around 15 psi. Oil can be up to 80. Without knowing anything about a mustang since this is a third gen site, the only thing that comes to mind is an engine oil cooler. I have no idea if a mustang uses an oil cooler or not.
