Can I remove these parts?
Can I remove these parts?
I have been removing parts off the engine bay and I need to know if I need these two parts or can I remove them?

Last item is this relay in the upper left. Where does that go? What does it power?

On another note. I have a fully functioning complete ac system. Any value in this. I have the condenser also its just not off the car yet.

Re: Can I remove these parts?
First Pic: Is your heater control valve. You can remove it if you dont want any heat in your car. I dont think it matters if the throttle has coolant in it not sure thou.
Second Pic: You can remove the EVAP canister you just have to know what to do with the hoses and what to plug up.
Third Pic: Is your Cooling Fan Relay and Seconardy Cooling Fan Relay, They dont look stock idk what year your car is but you do need them.

Re: Can I remove these parts?
Whats the purpose in removing these things youre hoping for?
Personally I like everything to work
Dont really use AC or heat but nice to know its all there and working
If its going faster with less weight dontthink youll notice much of anything
Cleaning all that wiring mess up can make your car more reliable
All those crimped butt connectors are a breakdown waiting to happen imo
not criticizing just sayin

Totally agree. I just got this car and im trying to get it how i want it. I have no emissions, so i have no need for the canister system. I can vent the tank.
As for the ac system, it worked great, i have a new dodge truck that i never use my ac. I have no idea why. Just i dont want it in the car....
As for the wiring, its a new car to me, and there are just some weird ghetto wiring going on in places That relay thats in the upper left of the pic, those wires that are crimped right there got so hot they melted into the washer resevoir. So, obviously have some wiring i need to work on...
thank you for your time and response on this.
Any good wiring diagrams you can recommend?

Leave the vent canister, just relocate it to under/behind the front bumper.
The coolant bypass valve can be removed if you get the proper hard line that bolts to the pass frame rail.
then you'll just have a coolant line from the front of the intake to the heatercore then out of the core and to the rad.

Get a longer heater hose and run the heater coolant line directly from the firewall to the TB. Cap the coolant port on the pipe mounted to the frame-rail..... and expect the rubber port cap to last about 12 months and it will need to be replaced again. ( You will still have heat. )

You can vent,... If you don't want to see it you should just re-locate it.
#3 Looks like stock Fog Light Relay, and an aftermarket relay for ??
Oh Ya',..... & Good luck with your new toy !

I will be removing the a/c in my car and replacing it with some kind of replacement idler pulley. My a/c is the t-tops and the windows down. i have never used a/c in any of my vehicles.

It does have stock fog lights on it. Im working on the wiring now.
As for the vent canister, i like the idea of relocating it, but on a vehicle that does not need emissions, why would i want to run the lines back into the engine? Just to not have the gas fumes?
I assume your just being a smart ***. Why would my car be going to a local pull a part?? If i needed emissions equipment i would keep everything. As for ac, i have just never been a fan.

"Why would my car be going to a local pull a part?? "
I think he's referring to that mess of wiring. I would attend to that before anything else. That is a constant hot that is uninsulated right next to a bare metal ground. Reminds me of an old nike commercial, "You know what would happen? Bad things man, bad things."

Re: Can I remove these parts?
I need to go look at another z28, or get some factory wiring diagrams as for what relays go to what. I can go through each one but i would like a little reference.
Looking for a good manual now. I should snap a pic of the wiring for the fans. RIDICULOUS. Its even worse...
Re: Can I remove these parts?
The one that looks the worst has the colors of fog light relay, no telling if it actually is anymore. The second is totally "custom" to put it kindly, but looks like it will be your cooling fan. You will have to trace these wires unfortunately.

Re: Can I remove these parts?
amazing how a lot of these cars were at one time owned and "modified" by bubba types with no regard to correctness or being proper.but it all works in our favor, their cars invariably end up as parts cars. so,, bring on the parts!!!
Re: Can I remove these parts?
The link I have, computer skills, not so much. Camaro diagrams are slim on that site. This is the best link for camaro wiring, but it's for an 86. http://92b4crs.tripod.com/86wiring/86wiringindex.html
This is Austins full page of diagrams, mostly firebirds.

I don't think diagrams will be much help in sorting out what he's looking at. Tracing the wires will be his best bet.
