89 GTA start up issues

89 GTA start up issues
Went out and started the car up this morning and she idled for a second or two then shut off. Started up again and the same thing... idled for a second or two and shut off. Third time I started it I gave her a little gas then let off and she ran fine afterwards.
What could be the problem?

Check for codes is a good start, but IAC (Idle Air Control Valve)sounds like it took a dump.
