Car dies when gas is pressed
Car dies when gas is pressed
Hey guys talking about a 305 carbed engine here. It has a new fuel pump and lines. The gas pedal has a lot of resistance when you try to press it down and the problem occurs more often when the car is not fully warmed but it still does happen when its warm. Also on the air inlet tube there is a smaller tube that goes downward which is no longer connected, could this be the cause? I've never worked on an engine that is carbed before so I'm a little at loss here. Spark plugs seem to be original (car has just over 90k miles).
I guess for starters I should change the spark plugs anyway. What are some ways to lubricate or adjust the thottle cable? Its a Holley 4 barrel carb. Could it be that the carb needs to be adjusted? The idle on this thing is super quiet
I haven't really dug into the issues just yet but I always like to get a little advice when I'm not too sure about stuff.
