knock filter boards and models

hey guys just got a quick question, the 305 sbc tpi ecu in i think its the 85 through to 91 models or something do they all have the knock filter boards present in the memcals? The knock filter boards for our aussie v8s are pretty rare and expensive to get hold of and as they are a 304ci the knock frequencies should be very similar as the engine is based off of a sbc and a buick v8 i would like to get a hold of one and test it as it would be a great replacement if it does work if these are a plentiful item. also does the 350 have them as well as I've got a 350sbc I've got to tune up as well and would like to have the knock retard working.

Re: knock filter boards and models

Welcome aboard mate. As for TPI knock filters/modules, it is rather straight forward.

The '85 - '89 years used a 100K ohm sensor with an external knock filter.
The '90 - '92 years used a 3.9K ohm sensor with an internal knock filter (on the MEMCAL).

The 5.0l and 5.7l engines use different knock filters/modules. Tuned to different gains and frequencies. The knock sensors also differ between the engine sizes.

RBob.

Cool so it would be the 90-92 models with the internal knock filter board in the memcal that I would be looking at are these the 165 ecus in these models or something else?
