Coolant being lost

Before a long trip I checked my radiator and it was a quarter down and none in overflow. It was full 5 months ago

5 months ago I replaced the radiator, thermostat, gaskets (intake and therm) and new hoses and water pump.

This is a pretty minor loss but would hate to see it leaking in oil. Changed my oil just now since that work and it was normal consistancy no strange color. No leaks anywhere I can see, been up and down the block several times in different op temperatures. It isn't burning it as plugs look fine and exhaust still smells like an 80s muscle car. No smoke at all

Any ideas on possible reasons for loss? My only thought is when it gets pegged on long trips it steams out the cap or overflow. I think the cap may be bad. I have a new overflow cap. Any suggestions?

Change the cap for sure.

I was loosing a small amount of coolant from my bottom hose connected to the pump. Turns out the neck on the pump is a little pitted.

I went over to a "T" bolt clamp and that has done it.

I really like these clamps and will be replacing some of the old worm drives as I go along.
