1985 Firebird won't start

So I bought my 1985 2.8 liter v6 a couple months ago for $1100. It has had no real issues other than it takes 7 seconds to start up overtime. I went to get gas the other day and the tank was almost entirely empty. I went to start it after I had fueled up and it took a longer time than usually, once it started it felt as if it was starving for fuel. Eventually it started running normally again. I drove down for another 15 minutes than all of a sudden I lost power. I parked on the side of the highway. It would start up but would only idle, if you left it in neutral you could rev it up slowly you could get the revs up higher. As soon as you put it in gear and realized the clutch and gave it a little gas it would die. Eventually I got it towed home. I assumed it was a clogged fuel filter or something because I let the tank get too low. Once I got it home it would not start. It turns over great. I replaced the fuel filter and it will still not start. Any help is appreciated.

I would say fuel pump. Since you were still getting it to start and run a little in neutral, sounds like the pump isn't supplying enough gas. Should be pretty cheap....

It will not even start now though, if it is the pump that would be nice.

That would be my guess since you already changed the fuel filter, should have a clean source of fuel now unless there is something in the carb that is jacked up...Being that it was still in 'running condition' after you filled up, I would think that the fuel is just not getting supplied so my guess would be the pump. And hey, if it's not then you are only out like what, $20? And you know you have a good pump afterward....

I've not had a v-6 but on mine, it has been on the passenger side of the engine at the very front. Replaced on the side of the road in Idaho lol....otherwise I'm not sure where it would be??
