"91" RS 3.1L Running Problem.
Ok fellow Camaro guys & gals. I have a technical issue I'm hoping to solve. I have a 91 RS 3.1L Auto. I bought the car from the original owner and this car is in excellent condition and is pretty much all original. The only things mechanical under the hood that have been altered on this car are the injectors. The intake gasket was leaking so when I replaced the gasket it was recommended I upgrade the injectors from the stock 2 nozzle to 4 nozzle Bosch. All that said, here's the issue, which started long after I replaced the injectors.
The car will run fine then out of the blue (when coming to a stop) act like it's running on 3 cylinders and die.
The only way to restart the car is hold the throttle to the floor and to keep it running you have to keep it above idle. Eventually it will clear up and run fine (sometimes for the rest of the day). Then out of the blue it does it again.
A local shop had the car for 2 months and couldn't figure this out. The shop did replace the computer which solved another issue it was having.
Prior to me acquiring the car it sat for 5yrs so I replaced the tank, pump, sending unit, filter, all tune up parts and flushed all fuel lines. The car ran great for three yrs before this started.
Any suggestions?????

Re: "91" RS 3.1L Running Problem.
First up should be a fuel pressure test , along with a fuel rail leakdown test , to determine if the fuel pressure regulator is OK .
I'm not sure if you've discovered this yet in your search , flooring the gas pedal puts the ECM into "clear flood mode" and shuts OFF the injector pulse . If it's running any appreciable time with the pedal floored that would mean it's getting fuel from somewhere it shouldn't , like a sticking open injector (s) or maybe a leaking fuel pressure regulator . You should remove the vacuum line from the regulator and check for raw gas , if found it's a sure sign of a bad regulator ......

I would also change the fuel filter, plugs, plug wires, and rotor. Basic tune up so you know the basics are good.
